Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6; Mac OS X Leopard 10.5; Mac OS X Tiger 10.4; Windows Server. Download GarageBand for Mac Direct Link for free December 25, 2019; Mac. Mac users can now connect to Microsoft Exchange 2007 servers via Mail, Address Book, and iCal Faster Installation Time May not be of much interest to single users but network administrators installing Snow Leopard on multiple machines can expect to install it in around 15 minutes compared to around an hour for Leopard.

Hi
I hope someone here can give me some advice - please.
I don't yet own an Apple but I am looking into the typical Ebay used Macbooks. I specifically want an Apple so I can use Garageband with my 10 year old Suzuki electronic grand piano.
The other reason I want an Apple is so I can edit .mov high-definition movie files from my new camcorder. I assume I need a special program to do that or is it built into the Apple like Windows Movie Maker is built into virtually all PC's?
The typical type of Macbook I'm looking at on Ebay is running Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard, has a Core 2 duo 1.8, 2.0 or 2.4 ghz processor and 2 gigs of RAM.
Will an older Macbook like that (2-4 years old) run Garageband and whatever program I need to edit my .mov files ?
I read on-line I need 10.6.3 or later to run Garageband. (I assume that's a newer operating system than Mac OS X 10.5 ?). If it is, is there an older version of Garageband that I can purchase that will work on an older computer ? Or am I stuck having to buy a new Macbook to run Garage Band?
I'm sorry if these questions are simplistic to the members of this forum but I have very little experience with Apples and I don't know who to ask about this.
Thanks for any constructive guidance anyone can give me,
Dave

Flight simulator x cold and dark. With a new version of Mac OS X already introduced, Apple seems to be leaving Leopard users behind, pretty much the same way it did with OS X Tiger. While some may judge Apple harshly for their decision to move forward, others will praise the Mac maker for just that.

The specs page for iLife 11 on Apple.com reveals a sad truth for people stuck on a G5 iMac capable of barely running Mac OS X Leopard - Wibu crack. iLife 11 requires Mac OS X 10.6. Snow Leopard as a minimum spec.

On the other hand, those owning hardware that can barely even handle Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) weren't likely to have had a decent iLife 11 experience anyway. Therefore, Apple said 'moving on.'

And move on they did, with multiple enhancements to iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand, now the three pillars of iLife which seems to be focusing less and less on iDVD and iWeb.

Not to worry, the apps will likely still exist even when Apple releases iLife 12, or iLife 13. By that time, however, they will be available as individual downloads from the Mac App Store, as will the more exciting trio of apps mentioned above.

Reports also indicate another sad truth concerning those who are more than equipped to run 64-bit apps - iLife 11 is not 64-bit.

According to Gear Live, which posts a screenshot of the Mac OS X Activity Monitor showing iLife 11 apps running side by side with other programs, it appears that the suite is still not ready to do 64-bit.

For all those interested in learning more about iLife 11, Softpedia has posted the entire set of system requirements below (OS X spec highlight ours).

Also noteworthy is that Apple has a special upgrade program for those who've recently bought a Mac but didn't get iLife 11 pre-installed (more on this here).
